HBO has renewed a trio of its freshman series: Task, I Love LA and The Chair Company.
This comes as Task, which was initially reported to be a limited series, wrapped its first season run last month, and The Chair Company and I Love LA are in the middle of their first seasons.
The news was announced at an HBO press presentation in New York City on Thursday morning with Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and HBO Max Content.
‘Task’s renewal
Per the logline for Task, “Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) heads a Task Force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).”
Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox, and Martha Plimpton also star.
“We knew well in advance of its launch that we had a powerful drama series on our hands, but it has been so rewarding to witness the audience’s fervor and embrace of this show as it grew week after week,” said Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films. ‘I Love LA’ and ‘The Chair Company’ will be getting a Season 2

The Chair Company “follows a man (Tim Robinson) who, after an embarrassing incident at work, finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy.” The series stars Robinson as William Ronald Trosper, Lake Bell as Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis as Natalie Trosper, Will Price as Seth Trosper, and Joseph Tudisco as Mike Santini. Lou Diamond Phillips has a recurring role. Robinson co-created the series with Zach Kanin.
I Love LA “follows an ambitious friend group navigating life and love in LA.” It stars Rachel Sennott as Maia, Jordan Firstman as Charlie, Josh Hutcherson as Dylan, Odessa A’zion as Tallulah, and True Whitaker as Alani. Guest stars are Leighton Meester, Moses Ingram, Ayo Edebiri, Lauren Holt, Elijah Wood, Quenlin Blackwell, Josh Brener, Tim Baltz, Froy Gutierrez, and Colin Woodell. Sennot is the series’ creator.
