NBA Youngboy recently sat down with Complex after the outlet named him the Best Rapper Alive in 2025. The Baton Rouge rapper opened up about various topics, including his house arrest, a pardon from President Donald Trump, and the meaning behind his MASA album.
What did NBA Youngboy say about his ‘Make America Slime Again’ album?
During the interview, Complex journalist Jordan Rose asked NBA YoungBoy about his eighth studio album, Make America Slime Again, to which his response was “It means follow whatever Trump applying.”
While he did not elaborate further, the 26-year-old rapper insisted that everyone should abide by Trump’s rules “in every way.” Rose also questioned whether Trump pardoned him last year.
“I don’t know nothing about that,” he said, extending the same response when asked if he ever met or spoke with Trump.
Donald Trump reportedly pardoned NBA Youngboy in 2025
As Blavity reported, Trump reportedly pardoned NBA Youngboy in May 2025, stemming from a federal gun charge that led to a year in prison. The rapper was one of several high-profile figures who received clemency from the president.
“I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the opportunity to keep building — as a man, as a father, and as an artist,” he wrote in an IG post at the time. “This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future I’ve worked hard for and I am fully prepared to step into this.” Gaulden also thanked his lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, and Alice Marie Johnson, whose sentence Trump commuted during his first term and who now serves as Trump’s ‘pardon czar.'”
NBA Youngboy was sentenced to prison in 2024 on charges of possessing firearms despite having a record.
